Libraries The Halifax County Library System offers public libraries in Halifax, Scotland Neck, Enfield, and Littleton in addition to the Roanoke Rapids Public Library.
Emergency Services Halifax County EMS directs and coordinates public safety related programs including Emergency Management activities, management and operation of the countywide Enhanced 9-1-1 system, and administration and coordination of countywide Paramedic level Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Law enforcement is provided by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and each municpality has theior own police departments to provide law enforcement services for their residents.
Television ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS have area affiliates. Cable television service is offered by Charter Communications. Additionally, satellite television is offered by Dish Network and DirecTV. CenturyLink offers subscription-based fiber-optic television services (IPTV) in selected areas.
Newspapers The Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald is the major newspaper serving the Roanoke Valley. The Scotland Neck Commonwealth Progress, which serves the Scotland Neck area of Halifax County, is published weekly. The Lake Gaston Observer-Gazette is a weekly newspaper serving the Littleton-Lake Gaston area.
