The Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport (IXA) plays a pivotal role in bolstering our local economy. According to the 2025 North Carolina: The State of Aviation report, IXA supports approximately 140 jobs and 29 based aircraft. The airport facilitates around 20,900 operations annually, contributing significantly to regional connectivity and commerce. Further, the growing economic output—from $16.34 million in total economic output in 2023 to $42.17 million in 2025—underscores the airport’s direct contribution to the Halifax County economy.
“It is clear that our airport is not just a gateway for travel, but a catalyst for economic opportunity,” commented Cathy Scott of the Halifax County Economic Development Commission. “With a 5,000-foot runway and its strategic location along the I-95 corridor, the airport is an invaluable asset for our existing businesses and for attracting new investment.”
