The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the annual “Working Together Works” award, which honors a company or individual whose leadership and commitment have significantly advanced economic development in Halifax County. This year, the award was presented to Roanoke Valley Lumber/Roseburg Forest Products, with Adam Reed, Mill Manager at the Weldon facility, accepting on behalf of the company.

In making the presentation, Halifax Horizons President Scott Aman noted, “The forest products industry is a cornerstone of Halifax County’s economy, and Roseburg Forest Products has quickly become one of our most valued partners. Their investment in the Weldon manufacturing facility and commitment to local job creation reflect exactly what this award represents—working together for shared success.”

Roseburg Forest Products has demonstrated strong leadership in Halifax County since choosing Weldon as the location for its state-of-the-art sawmill. The company’s decision to invest locally was supported by collaboration among Halifax Horizons, county and state partners, and the broader community. Today, the Roanoke Valley Lumber facility employs 200 people and has established itself as a key contributor to Halifax County’s forest products cluster.

Accepting the award, Adam Reed remarked, “On behalf of Roseburg Forest Products, I want to thank Halifax Horizons for this recognition. Our success in Halifax County is the result of partnerships—local leadership, workforce, and community support. We are proud to be part of Halifax County’s future and look forward to continuing to grow together.”
