Halifax County’s 3rd Annual Economic Development Road Show

Halifax County leaders, board members, and economic development allies gathered for the 3rd Annual Economic Development Road Show. The tour provided an up-close view of local industry, infrastructure investment, and areas targeted for future development.

The event began with a tour of Don Pancho Authentic Mexican Foods, where guests learned about the facility’s large-scale tortilla and chip production. Led by Derek Cable, the visit offered insights into Don Pancho’s role in Halifax County’s growing food manufacturing sector and the footprint of the company’s products across the U.S.

Participants then traveled to the Halifax Industrial Center, a key employment hub anchored by PCB Piezotronics of NC, Inc; Pelican Packaging; and Reser’s Fine Foods. Halifax Industrial Center is also the location of Heaton Construction’s new operations center, currently nearing completion. The project reflects continued investment in Halifax’s industrial and construction sectors.

Traveling along NC Highway 125 and the Premier Boulevard extension, attendees reviewed planned infrastructure projects that will enable future growth in retail and commercial enterprises, healthcare facilities, and market-rate and workforce housing. These improvements are critical to enhancing both Roanoke Rapids’ and Halifax County’s competitiveness and capacity for business development.

Halifax County’s Annual Economic Development Roadshow is an important event that not only highlights our successes but also our economic assets as a catalyst for future development.
