Halifax Community College recently recognized the first individuals completing the College’s new Truck Driving Academy. The event celebrated the hard work and commitment of eight students who successfully completed the program and are now certified to begin careers in commercial driving.
This milestone marked more than just their completion of the Academy—it reflected a growing partnership between education, the community, and industry to meet local workforce needs. CDL drivers are essential to our economy. They play a critical role in supporting industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics by keeping supply chains moving.
As demand for qualified drivers continues to grow, HCC’s CDL Academy will ensure local residents have access to stable, good-paying careers while also meeting the needs of area employers. Several businesses across the region are actively seeking licensed drivers, and the program’s graduates are entering a field with real potential for long-term employment and advancement.
The Halifax County Economic Development Commission is proud to support efforts that strengthen our workforce and open the door to new opportunities for local residents. The CDL program is a perfect example of how targeted training programs can align with community economic goals Cathy Scott, Executive Director commented, “We look forward to following the success of these graduates as they begin their journeys on the road ahead.”
