Grant Supports Building Renovations For New Manufacturing Operation

A grant from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Rural Economic Development Division, will facilitate renovations to a former industrial facility and support the creation of new jobs in Halifax County. East Coast Solutions of Virginia, LLC has been approved for a $174,000 Building Reuse matching grant to support the renovation of a 125,000-square-foot building located at 802 Julian R. Allsbrook Highway in Weldon. The company plans to establish a food and feed ingredient operation that will blend animal proteins for livestock feed and pet food manufacturing.

The project will create 20 new jobs and $3.5 million in machinery and equipment investment. Building Reuse Grant funds will assist with facility improvements needed to prepare the building for operations. The project represents another step in Halifax County’s efforts to revitalize existing industrial assets and create quality employment opportunities for local residents.
