Binderholz Enfield LLC held a grand opening ceremony on April 6 to commemorate the official opening of its lumber production facility near Enfield in Halifax County. Company, local community, and elected officials participated in the event alongside Binderholz’s corporate leadership from Austria. The Enfield facility will produce southern yellow pine lumber used in residential and commercial construction. At full production, the plant will have an output capacity of over 200 million board feet.
In January 2021, Binderholz officially acquired the assets of Klausner Lumber, which included production mills in Live Oak, Florida and Enfield, NC. Despite a pandemic and lingering supply chain issues, Binderholz was able to upgrade the Enfield manufacturing plant to their strict standards and meet state and local permitting requirements.
“We appreciate the support from Halifax County and the Enfield community during very challenging times,” commented Matteo Binder of Binderholz. “We have worked hard to get the facility operational and now we must shift our focus to getting employees to achieve full production.”
The name Binderholz stands for tradition and integrity combined with high-tech innovation. Starting as a small sawmill in Austria over 70 years ago and growing into a multi-national company with 60 sites across Europe. The family-owned operation is a leader in the industry incorporating cutting-edge technologies and production methods.
“This is a major milestone, not only for Binderholz, but for Halifax County,” commented Vernon Bryant, Chairman of the Halifax County Board of Commissioners. “We are grateful to the company for their commitment to Halifax County and we look forward to a long and prosperous partnership.”
The Enfield, NC production facility will further strengthen Binderholz’s presence in the US market. The Binderholz Enfield plant is forecast to have 120 full-time employees by 2024. This hiring process will continue until the lumber mill reaches full production capacity.
Representative Michael Wray praised the efforts of Binderholz in Halifax County, saying, “The strong wood basket and forest products supply chain in this area are the backbone of what you have built here. This solid foundation will ensure the success of Binderholz.”
Binderholz is hiring and searching for well-qualified workers to join the Binderholz team.
